What following is not

We built the lightest version of following we could:

• No follower counts — not on your site, not on theirs, not anywhere
• No likes — there’s nothing to react to, only things to read

Following on Commonplace isn’t an audience metric. It’s a way to let good thinkers feed your reading — their output becomes your input, and eventually your output feeds someone else’s. That’s the loop.
